For the fitTOGETHER television show we are in the process of shooting for a segment on the Tour de Cause. Obviously, another opportunity to play with the GoPro. We used the optional Bike Mount kit…and what you are seeing are only a few of the mounting positions that we could come up with. You can put this thing almost anywhere in any orientation.
Bottom line, it works. The dynamic range is impressive – shooting up straight into the sky you can see both detail in the partly-cloudy sky, as well as in the rider’s face. The road is tar-and-chip…it’s not smooth…but the camera doesn’t seem to show it. White balance varies within the clips a bit. And the auto iris could be a little quicker.
The camera goes almost anywhere. But, not quite. The Roll Bar Mount is going to be an upcoming purchase, as the Bike Mount only allows you to connect it to round tubes of 1.5″d or less. An articulating mount would be a welcome addition, if only it existed.
Stay tuned as we test some more mounting positions on some off-road trails in the area.
